Fife Forum, or the Fife Elderly Forum as it was once known, was originally developed to support the facilitation of local action groups for older and retired people aged 55+. These groups, known as Forums, were intended to provide a platform for older people to participate and engage in the issues and policy areas that mattered to and impacted them. These groups differed from other more socially-centred groups in that they were essentially action groups; albeit they offered social benefits for members. User Panels were not dissimilar; however, were geared towards frailer older people 70+ whom engaged with Social Work and/or Health services. Unfortunately, our membership, largely an older demographic, was detrimentally impacted by the Covid pandemic which led to many of these groups ceasing to function as they did.
Fife Forum remains committed to providing older people in Fife a platform upon which they can be supported to participate and engage on the issues and matters relevant to them. We continue to do this by providing support for our remaining Forums alongside identifying and developing new platforms with stakeholders. All groups now shelter under the banner of 'Action Groups'.
A current list of our Forums can be downloaded from 'Resource & Downloads', however, please be advised as our groups are under review it is best, in the first instance, to contact the Support & Development Worker for information. All new Action Groups will be detailed as they are developed.
